Lawrence Starkman – Technology and Apps for Real Estate

Lawrence Starkman has worked in the field of real estate for his entire career, and has served as both an appraiser and a broker. Throughout his long and distinguished career, Starkman has seen many changes in the way that real estate business is conducted, many of which are influenced by changes in technology during this time period. There are many products, services, and apps that make the process of buying, selling, and renting property much easier and faster for both real estate agents and customers.

  • One of the most influential real estate websites of the last decade has been Zillow. Zillow is a comprehensive website that allows anyone to access approximate property values, home and apartment listings, mortgage calculations, and more quickly and easily. Zillow has a very intuitive and well-designed website, and they also have several different apps for smartphones and tablets. These include the real estate app, the rental app, the mortgage app, and the home design app. Zillow has completely changed the way that consumers find information about properties they are interested in.
  • For realtors, the RPR Mobile app is a must-have. The app allows you to find all available information on any property, including property values, square footage, pictures, and more, instantaneously. Especially for realtors on the go with busy schedules, this app can be a huge time-saver. If a client needs information about a property fast, there’s no need to make a phone call or take to Google – you can just check RPR Mobile.
  • Another great app for real estate agents is Roomscan Pro. This app creates floor plans for you using your phone’s camera. You just hold the phone up to a wall to add it to the floor plan, and then the app takes the measurements for you. You can also manually add the measurements to make them more exact. Then, you can go back into the floor plan and add features such as doors and windows. This is invaluable for real estate professionals that need floor plans for their properties quickly.
  • Homesnap is an app for potential homeowners that allows them to take a picture of any home, anywhere, and find out the approximate value of the home, the square footage and number of rooms, and even information about what’s nearby. Homesnap can also identify homes that have potential as investments, and you can also connect your profile with friends that also use the app to see which homes they are looking at and share potential home profiles.

Lawrence Starkman has seen a huge change in technology for real estate agents throughout his career. Apps like these help make the process of buying and selling property more accessible and less intimidating for everyone.

Lawrence Starkman – The Origins of Handball

Handball is a team sport where two teams of seven platers pass a ball using only their hands in hopes to score by getting the ball into the goal of the other team. The game has a rich history dating back to Roman times and is still played by people around the world today. Lawrence Starkman is an avid player and fan of handball.

Versions of handball date all the way back to Roman times when women would play a game called expulsim ludere. The game was also found in France during medieval times and among the Inuit of Greenland during the Middle Ages. By the 19th century the game had expanded to Denmark, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Ukraine and Germany.

The first written set of rules wasn’t published until 1906 by Holger Nielsen, a Danish lieutenant, Olympic medalist and gym teacher. The rules were changed to what is commonly used today on October 29, 1917 by Karl Schelenz, Max Heiser, and Erich Konigh from Germany. Karl later improved upon the rules slightly in 1918. Players from Germany and Belgium participated in the first set of international games for men in 1925 and women from Austria and Germany played against each other in 1930 for the first time.

The International Amateur Handball Federation was formed in 1928 after the Congress of the International Amateur Athletics Federation chose a committee to draw up official international rules for field handball in 1926. The International Handball Federation soon followed with its founding in 1946.

Lawrence Starkman is one of many fans and players of handball today.

Lawrence Starkman – Must Read Book – Pride and Prejudice

Reading is a fun and relaxing hobby that is easy to start and can be low to no cost. You can rent many books at your local library or even find them online to read for free. And there are some books that are considered classic must-reads no matter your age, race, gender or social status. Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen is one such novel. Lawrence Starkman is an avid reader of great classics like Pride and Prejudice.

Jane Austen transports you into the ironically funny world of manners, marriage and proper society set in 19th century England. Arguably her most famous work, with an unforgettable opening line, “It is a truth universally acknowledged that a single man in possession of a good fortune must be in want of a wife.”

A universally loved tale of passion between Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy, Pride and Prejudice is able to capture the beautifully flawed side of humanity that only love could bring out. It is about overcoming differences of class and about learning to not only accept but laugh at an unfair set of circumstances and how difficult it can be to truly accept someone you love and whether that love is strong enough to withstand the pressures of outsides influences like class, social pressure and time.

Pride and Prejudice is a novel for people of all ages and has stood the test of time as one of the greatest love stories. It is funny and painfully true and will leave the reader thinking about love and the sacrifices people make in its name. Lawrence Starkman – Collecting Fine Art: Who Created It?

When deciding if you want to add a piece of art to your collection, many things need to be taken into consideration. One of the most important questions you need to ask yourself is who created the art? Is their work something you want to invest in? Lawrence Starkman has had to ask himself this question each time he adds a piece to his collection of fine art.

Doing some research about the artist will help you determine if the piece will be a good investment or if the artist’s work won’t stand the test of time and it will not increase in value. Start by doing some digging into the person. When they were born and when they died, if they are no longer living. Where they lived and worked. What galleries, museums, or institutions they had their work featured at. What awards, grants, prizes or honors they received. What other collectors, if any, own their work. What position the artist held, such as professor, lecturer, teacher, writer, resident artist. How many publications they were mentioned in and the credibility of that publication. What organizations the artist belonged to. Where the artist studied and if they studied with anyone of note.

After finding the answers to these questions you will have a better understanding of the artists and if they have accomplishments that will help their career maintain longevity. Remember that art is an investment that can increase over time and doing the research into the person that created it is important. The more significant the person’s reputation and profile, the higher probability the piece will increase in value either as the artist creates more works or after their death as pieces become rarer.

It is also helpful to talk to friends or people you know in the art industry. The more word or mouth an artist receives, the better known the art. This will allow the artist’s work to become more desirable and increase in value. Look to the opinion of art experts as their determination can affect the value more than amateurs in the art scene.

Collecting fine art can be a fun hobby and a great way to invest in your future. Making smart decisions about which pieces to invest in, and in turn which artist to invest in, will help reap the benefits of your investment and result in a bigger payoff in the end. Lawrence Starkman is an avid fine art collector from Evanston, Illinois.
